The Dreadful Whirlwind

As many of you that follow me know, I typically end up having a theme that takes place within my life and that theme will be what my posts are based off of for the week.

This last week, it has been heavily dedicated to what it is that we truly value.

Alright all...Beastly Jayme is about to come out...

I had done a couple of posts asking how people prioritize the important pieces to their lives and also asked what they valued most.

The verdict?

Almost every. single. person. shared that they prioritized their health, family, and faith first and foremost.

Their number one value was time over money and energy.

Don't get me wrong, I absolutely agree with these and it was very pleasing to see so many people stating this.

-But here's the problem...saying it is one thing, DOING is another.

The "Facebook Fluff" makes us feel like good people because we have stated this for everyone to see, when in reality many of us aren't actually matching our efforts to our words.

This is a common issue, because as we all know, life happens.

We get caught up in the "whirlwind" of just trying to get by. We are trying to work, focus on our health, focus on our families, pay our bills, be happy, give back and live up to the standards that social media has set for us.

Trust me, I get it.

I think we need to do some reverse-engineering, though.

Not everybody has the same drive, types of self-care, parenting techniques, and well...values.

It is now "trending" to be positive, post happy stuff, and "live for the moment."

All. Are. Excellent. Things. However, it isn't actually happening!!!

PLEASE do not get that confused with what I'm trying to say.

For example, we LOVE our family and truly love spending time with them, yet how genuine and mindful was that time? Were you on your phone? What were you talking about? Did you allow yourself to disconnect from other things to actually appreciate the moment?

The whirlwind. We are just going through the motions. We live in complete utter chaos and stress....Our minds rarely shut off.

We need to create routines to be able to keep up with the demand of life, but we also need to train ourselves to be more mindful, intentional and present.

My question...What does your ideal life look like on YOUR terms rather than what everyone else is doing?

When was the last time you genuinely stopped and appreciated a moment visiting a loved one? When is the last time you actually made sure what you were doing at work was intentional, rather than just getting the work day over with to go home and watch TV?

The. FREAKING. Whirlwind!

In my opinion, many people walk around like high-functioning zombies. We may not look sluggish or dead on the outside...but if you really think about it, are you really feeling? Are you really being productive or are you just getting through another day?

With Love, Value, and GOOD INTENTION,

Coach Jayme
